Set designing

As of late, I've spent a lot of time designing future, and end game, sets for my characters. Some a fair amount better than others. I though today that I might share some of my set ideas for my characters and see what you think. If you disagree or can see anything I can do to improve one of the sets please let me know via Skype or in game. (Initiative from stats not calculated is on any of the sets, neither is the prospecting. This is purely the set bonus).

First off, Andeh's Strength/Intelligence hybrid set for end game. This took a lot of though because I wasn't too sure if I was going to make him more strength based or around equal stats, I decided on the latter. Once I had decided that I struggled to decide if I wanted a 4 AP Teroid Axe or a 5 AP Giger's Nightmare Blade. I eventually decided the lower AP cost was worth while. This set will work well with the stats I plan for Andy; 301 Intelligence and 300 Strength base, scrolls included. Anyway here's the set plan:

Set:

Teroid Axe
Somnambulist's Nightcap
Inky Veil
Kralomansion
Awmigawd Band
Awmigawd Band
Anium Ligature
Al Pinist's Boots
Emerald/Almond mount
Turquoise Dofus (14)
Minor Instigator
Instigator
Major instigator
Cawwot Dofus
Emerald Dofus

Stats:

+2 MP
+3 AP
+2109~2650 Vitality
+215~260 Strength
+225~280 Intelligence
+233~330 Wisdom
+17~25 Damage
+104~140% Damage
+36~46 Critical Hits
+3~5 Summons
+3 Range
+12~18 Heals
+1501~1600 Initiative
+21~31 Neutral Damage
+16~22 Air Damage
+5~7 Water Damage
+29~43 Earth Damage
+28~41 Fire Damage
+4~5 Ap Reduction Ability
+6~6 MP Reduction Ability
+4~5 Dodge
+6~8 Lock
+38~58 Prospecting
+5~6 AP Loss Resistance
+4~6 MP Loss Resistance
+4~5 Resist Neutral
+4~5 Resist Earth
+15~20 Resist Water
+11~17% Resist Water
+10~15% Resist Fire
+15~22% Resist Air

Right, next is the end game Masq set I designed, it's interesting to say the least. I designed it for Joe, Geodude to use at 200. The only set requirements he asked for were at least 11 AP and 5 MP, well I managed just that with a pretty demon set. The only downfall is that it's weapon isn't 1/2 but to be honest when you see the weapon you'll know why, and even though it isn't anywhere near 50% to crit the damage will still be massive without it. (Joe is going vitality Masq at 200 with 101 fully scrolled stats in all).

Set:

Cursed Scythe of the Blord Warrior
Kolosso Helmet
Fuji Snowfoux Cloak
Battleflag Amulet
Kolosso Ring
Gelano (Initiative Mage 400)
Kolosso Belt
Fuji Snowfoux Boots
Emerald/Ginger Dragoturkey
Major Earth Destroyer
Major Water Destroyer
Major Air Destroyer
Major Fire Destroyer
Major Neutral Destroyer
Ochre Dofus

Stats:

+4 AP
+3 MP
+1731~1990 Vitality
+26~40 Chance
+47~70 Intelligence
+192~280 Strength
+129~200 Agility
+181~260 Wisdom
+3 Range
+16~19 Critical Hits
+7~10 Heals
+73~100% Damage
+66~90 Neutral Damage
+66~90 Earth Damage
+36 Water Damage
+47~51 Fire Damage
+62~73 Air Damage
+10 Citical Damage
+7~10 Pushback Damage
+7~10 Resist Air
+19~27 Resist Water
+8~12 Resist Fire
+19~27 Resist Neutral
+7~10 Resist Earth
+9~13% Resist Air
+4~5% Resist Water
+4~5% Resist Fire
+9~13% Resist Neutral
+9~13% Resist Earth
+16~23 AP Loss Resistance
+4~5 MP Loss Resistance
+1002~1200 Initiative
+56~95 Prospecting
+30~38 Lock

The reason this set works well for the Masq is that his base life will be 2141, once you add in the vitality from the set the, the max obtainable is 4131. With the Resistance as it is, the Masq looks to be a real tank. I also calculate that since each of the five hits from a Cursed Scythe of the Blord Warrior do 9-18 damage that with the added damage bonus from the set, not including stats and % damage, the scythe will hit 385 - 430 if all the damages are max. Add a +66 damage "furia" crit before the scythe hit and you're looking at hitting 715 - 760 per hit, once again I'll mention that's without stats or % damage.

Anyway I hope you like these sets, I've designed more but alas I'll soon reach the word limit so I cannot continue much further. I hope you've all had a great week and it would be lovely if anyone actually used any of my set plans or even modeled their sets around them.

Have another terrific week!

P.S. I may eventually just add a page for this where you are linked to the set on my Google docs.

Kama vending, nay or yay?

Kama vending is something that is illegal in game according to the rules of Dofus mainly because it's way people make money out of Ankama's game and that is spoils the fun of it, however I'd like to investigate if it is really that bad for the game. There are obvious downsides such as the chance of it all being a scam and you losing your money but there are a fair amount of upsides too.

With the introduction of the Ogrine system players can now spend there money on Ogrines to turn into Kamas. This is essentially a game legal version of buying Kamas, there is a downside though. Although it is legal in game unlike Kama vending itself you do get a lot less for your money. Using today's average rate I found that the amount of 6000 Ogrines which cost's you £7.79 to buy would, when sold, get you a total of  1 584 000 Kamas. For £6.97 on a generic Kama site you can get 2mk. Although this does not seem like too much of a difference, when you scale it up to buying large amount of Kamas you notice a very large difference. Example: 60 000 Ogrines would cost you £77.90 and get you 15 840 000 Kamas. Whilst for £66.97 on a Kama site you would get 20 000 000 Kamas. This is their main selling point, more for your money, none of us like to get a bad deal when buying things.

Although a handy thing for subscription, I think that for smaller servers such as our own the Ogrine purchase via Kamas has ruined the servers economy. No one on the server has the money to buy items because most people would rather spend 150kk/200kk on a weeks subscription than to put towards new gear. Yes you may argue that as someone purchases Ogrines someone else receives that money, but who's to say they won't spend that money on subbing a character a few days later. It's a vicious cycle. Yes it is a handy tool, but we do over use it and Ankama probably made a large loss on subscription fees since they introduced it. Kama vending however actually just throws money into the economy of the game if you think about it, bots farm Kamas for days from low level mobs, that no one else would be bothered to kill, and then people buy the Kamas to spend on in game wares which increase the amount of Kamas on the server.

So what is your opinion? Do you think that Kama vending is good for the server and that without it all our pockets would be a little bit empties, or do you believe the "No real world trading" policy is just in it's rules against buying them?

I would love to here you opinions, message me in game and I will be happy to talk about it or any other interesting subject. If you have any ideas for a new thread please let me know, because I would be happy to write about your chosen subject.

Anyway, thanks for reading.

Matt.

P.S. Oh yeah I forgot to mention, Andy's computer is broke so it's just me at the moment. No idea if/when he's getting it fixed but I'll keep you posted as I find out news on his return.

A change for the Osa

Sorry for yet another late post, back at school tomorrow and my sleeping pattern is incredibly "irregular" after all this time off where I've been going to sleep at 7am and waking up at 4pm. Gonna be hard getting back to normal. With Andy not putting in the effort as of late, mainly 'cos he got Battlefield 3 for Xbox and he discovered the joys of spending all your time sleeping, it is once again down to me, Matt, to write the blog post. I have a 3000 word essay due in on Thursday so I haven't had much time to think of an idea on to write about so I'm basically just going to report on the status of my Osamodas.

Although it has been chance for a number of levels/months now and is my much prefered build for my class I am changing to intelligence for the sake of my team. With our lack of intelligence characters having an affect and only having a low level healer on our team, me and Andy decided it would be best for my Osa to be int so that it can heal and still do damage. The set it will be using will be a full stringsecticide set with a full Gladiator Bworker Set minus the belt. I will also be using Stephammer as my weapon. So far I have only obtained the Deadly Night Cape and Fungul Ring for my set along with the materials to make the Stringsecticide (Belt) minus one of the Ougaads. I went for the full String set rather than Bwork due to the more appealing set bonus.

Although both sets give an AP the string set offers 2 summons, 20 wisdom and 40 intelligence, whilst the Bwork Set offers 50 strengths, 50 agility and 4 crits. The crits can be made up for from the String belt itself whilst the 1 range lost from not using bilb belt is a worthy sacrifice for the 10 heals and 5 damage from the string belt. Of course I'm a long way off the reset, I still need to scroll 50 more intelligence and gain 3 levels and 10% for me to even be able to equip my set. It's a long way away but it will get done.

Aside from this we haven't really been up to much. I got my Hammer Smith to 65 last week and have obtained 34 magus. I also have been helping mine and Andy's friend Billy farm mats to make parts of his White Rat Set. I myself have spent the last few days watching the anime "Soul Eater" in dub not sub, I don't care what you think about dub go shove it 'cos I enjoy it more. I'm an avid anime watcher but have got lazy of late and decided it was about time I caught up on something. For anyone interested my current animelist can be found at http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Element_Valkyre. I can't imagine I will be on much over the next couple of days with my essay due in and school starting back up again, last year, can't wait to leave.

Anyway, have a good week.

A jolly Kwismas with a sad departure

Hey everybody, today I'll be discussing some fantastic things I, Matt, got for Kwismas in real life, the latest goings in the organization and the sad departure of a fellow member.

First of all all I hope you had a great Kwismas and got everything you wanted; I certainly did. Predominantly this year I got clothes but that isn't something I'd scoff, in fact their fantastic, as you'll soon see, I also got a fair amount of money and a new phone with which I took all the fourth coming pictures. The t-shirts I got are brilliant, my parents know me way too well, and when I opened my presents and found these beauties I was filled with joy.

This one is great, my Mum picked it and it pretty much sums up my life, yes I'm in school but that's about as much effort I put in. This surprises most people because my grades are quite largely above average, aren't I lucky. If I didn't have my smarts my grades would be horrifying with all this Dofus I play.

One of my favourites, I am a nerd and I like my math. When my class mate first saw a picture of this he didn't get it. At that moment I really did wonder how he got in to the top set of maths and also how the designers come up with these amazing t-shirt ideas.

Best. T-shirt. Ever. Nothing else to be said.

If you can't read this it's a hoodie which says "No, I will not fix your computer". I love this to such an extent that it isn't comprehensible to the average mortal being. I've had to fix so many of my "techno-allergic" friends computers on a regular basis that I could probably make a fair few pounds if I started charging.

These aren't nerdy, their just plain snazzy. These are the kinda shoes a king would wear if he had to wear stupidly bright, super comfy large shoes.

The next message is that of a farewell to Criux, Jack, a great guy who we had many a fun time with on this server but has sadly decided to bid us a adieu and return to Shika to play with one of his old time friends. We wish him the best of luck and hope he enjoys himself back at his place of origin and hope he doesn't forget the time we had!

Right, now a major change that has happened within the Wizardz this week is that we are now actively recruiting for Vertigo as a guild but with the use of our main characters. I have left Voice and Andy has left Eden so that we may further pursue our goal of helping out the folk of Zatoishwan. To join you can use any of the methods on the contact us page to get in touch with us.

Before I finish this post I'd just like to mention on a personal note that Voice is a fantastic guild and if you ever get an opportunity to join it, don't turn it down. That guild changed my entire perspective on this game and  has been a massive inspiration to me, I dare say I would not be the player I am today without it. Good luck to the members of the guild and I hope to see them as the servers top guild by level by the end of January. Go go Tanee!!!

Well I hope you enjoyed the post and I'll see you all next week, thanks for reading.

Kwismas!

Ok, it's Kwismas so us wizardz are partying hard with our friends and family like the rest of you probably are and spending time sharing presents with our loved ones so we may not be so active over the next few days. Kwismas being a great time of year where everyone, for the most part, is having fun and spreading joy we will be shouting out to a few special ones who have caught our eye this year! Xuany, Twa-Plus, thank-you for your amazing secret Santa present this year for me, a ginger/emerald camouflage mount, you have no idea how much that helped and was greatly appreciated. Also a shout out to Joe, Geodude, for being an epic guy and talking to us on Skype almost 24/7 you are now an honorary member of our order. Thank-you to all of Voice; especially Phe, Mamo and Pet for being so accepting in letting us into not only their guild but their fantastic community.

We hope all our readers have an amazing Kwismas and a great New Year. We plan to be more helpful than ever in 2012 with some new members appearing from all over the place. Our order is expanding quickly and will always be happy to help those in need.

Andy has forced me to write about the fact I got 600 jellybeans for Kwismas along with many, let's say, "interesting" t-shirts. We will be uploading pictures of some of our favourite presents in our next weekly post on Tuesday 27th of December along with a message about who gave them to us and why they are so amazing.

Anyway everyone, have a great week and we'll see you around!
